Coveting…

Yeah yeah, I know. Thou shalt not covet blah blah blah. But I do occasionally.

And I’m majorly coveting this:

Technically I’ve been coveting this chair for a couple years now. And recently it’s just been gnawing away at my brain. Buy me… Buy me…. I hear it. It’s calling to me.

I love the leather. I love the aluminium cladding. I love the rivets. I love the aerodynamic racing design. I love it all.

Yes, it would be a frivolous purchase. No, I don’t need it. Sure, I don’t really have room for any more furniture in my place.

But… Fuck. Just look at it!

Besides, I got a promotion and a raise at work, so I deserve to treat myself… Right? And I could put it in the corner in my bedroom……

That is interesting! But I imagine it’d be pretty frigid!

  2. Girl Tuesday says:

If it’s super comfy to sit in, I say splurge and get it – you deserve a treat!

    • Chip says:

I agree with Girl Tuesday…..its got to be comfortable. It doesn’t look like it reclines…. Perhaps if you do purchase it, you could swap out another piece of furniture which you could store or donate. Personally, I don’t like the ‘overstuffed/overcrowded’ look.

      • cb says:

It is comfortable but not a “squish into” chair.

And my condo is fAirly spartan. In my bedroom I have a bed, dresser, and small side table. My living room has an L sectional, tv credenza, 2 shelves and a lamp. So not very “overstuffed”.

I like it, but it looks like a cold place to sit when you live in frickin Siberia, Minnesota with damn near thirteen and a half months of winter every year. Even if you turn the furnace up high enough to roast a chicken, that aluminum could feel cold. But fuck it. It’s cool, you like it, and with your new Croesus-like wealth, you can afford it.

  4. you could bend over the back…yeah, you can see where MY mind is going!

  5. JimA says:

Coveting is such a weird Christian thing anyway… I call it “mental masturbating” 😉

  6. Dave says:

Copper instead of aluminum would be cool!

    • cb says:

Copper would make it steampunk cool, but oxidation may make it look funny over time.

Plus the aluminum it meant to invoke a retro “aviation” feel.

  7. Blobby says:

I see how this works now. You coveted the apt. The car. The vibrams. the sunglasses. …and while you “pose” the question of getting, you already made up your mind. Just let us know when it’s delivered.

    • cb says:

Lol– wow you DO know me!

Yeah, if it gets to the point of a blog post, I’ve pretty much made up my mind and am merely seeking external validation at this point.

  8. Kevin says:

I agree with Dave… If they have it in copper. Then again, that’s my metal of choice. Seriously though, if you don’t get it, I have the perfect corner for it in my house!

  9. DennyNYC says:

This would look great on the front porch of a coal miner shack in the back hills of West Virginny. Car seat from the rusting Chevy in the front yard. Sheet metal left over from patching the tin roof. You could turn over a galvanized washtub for use as an ottoman.

But, since you ARE going to buy it (why ask US??) at least measure the overall dimensions to see if it might just overpower the whole bedroom. And, from the pic , it looks like the sheet metal goes all the way up the inside, from knee to thigh – how warm izzat gonna be on your naked little body in your bedroom…
If you have THAT much disposable cash, buy yourself another Rolex. More bang for the buck.

Looks a little Max Headrom to me.

  11. I like it. It almost feels… Klingon.

  12. Rick says:

Put that extra money in your 401K now and you’ll never miss it. Your chair fancy will pass.

  13. Mark in DE says:

That IS a pretty awesome chair, and would fit into your condo/design style beautifully.
