Or “fat ass”. Either way, this portly pepper pot needs to shed some lbs.
Part of my New Years resolutions for this year (and every year) involves weight loss. It’s something I continually struggle with, and it’s getting worse as I age and my metabolism slows down.
I wish there was a simple solution. Other than meth, that is.
The frustrating thing is that moving the needle on the scale is proving to be really difficult. I’m not exactly sedentary– I go to the gym 5 times a week. I do cardio, push-ups, sit-ups, and lift some free weights. I also do yoga.
And I know they say the real key to weight loss lies in dietary changes. Which is also frustrating because I don’t have any real easy changes to make there.
I don’t drink any soda (diet or regular), I have stopped buying potato chips. I don’t drink alcohol (maybe a beer a month). I don’t snack between meals. I eat a small breakfast (cereal or toast, and some fruit) every morning. Lunch is usually a sandwich and some chips. Dinner is… ?
And still I’m a fatty fatty two-by-four.
I’ve recently taken to getting soup for dinners. More small things like yogurt to eat for dinner. And I’m trying not to eat late.
I’ve also started weighing and charting my weight each day. And I’ve maaaaaaaybe lost a pound.
Grrrrrr. I need to lose 20 lbs to feel better about myself. 30 lbs to be roughly the right size for me. And 40 lbs to be “healthy”.
I’d settle for 15 just so my pants for better.
Weight Watchers for Men. It sounds like you are not eating enough. When that happens, your body goes into starvation mode and hangs onto fat. You’ve got the exercise down, you’ll be shocked how much you can eat on WW for men and still lose a pound or two a week. And watch your sodium intake. 2000 mg or less daily DOES wonders. Some soups have almost that amount of sodium in one serving. The key for me is lots of lean protein throughout the day, some carbs and healthy fats.
Have eggs, etc. for breakfast instead of cereal.
What chip says!! And breakfast is probably the most important meal!!! And while I’m at it…… what the fuck is the problem with gays and aging??????? Suck it up buttercup!!!! Move on to the next phase of who you are!!!! Skinny, hairless and immature is not hot!! Give me a silver fox, some body hair and stability anyway!!! You have all that….. rechannel your energies!!
the fitness industry is probably the most reliable source of bullshit and conflicting information. It’s hard to sift out the truth on your own. Some stuff I’ve been hearing lately does seem moderately credible, though. One common theme is that sugar is evil and it’s everywhere, even in places you’d never expect. Like soup. Who the heck would think of that? And if those yogurts you’re eating are flavored, toss em out. Flavored yogurts are crawling with it. Everybody is different, but I dropped a few when I stopped eating yogurt for breakfast. And Slim Fast of all things has a lot of sugar. Another current theory- Too much cardio allegedly can make your body more efficient with its calorie burns. Add that to starvation mode. Don’t forget that old bugaboo about muscle weighing more than fat, so don’t put too much emphasis on that number on the scale, especially early on.
Keep a detailed food diary and make an appointment with a nutritionist. That way you can come up with an optimal diet plan.
Sounds like you need to eat MORE. Eating regularly will keep your metabolism up. You need to start eating healthy snacks – three snacks a day to go with the three meals.
