… My bike, that is.
Since the theft of Thundarr (my blue Trek beauty), I’ve been rather despondent. I really miss him!
And I have missed being able to ride to work and around the lakes, etc.
But the good news is that the theft forced me to break out the Downtube collapsible bike that I got when I had a MINI Cooper.
This one I call White Pumpkin —
Late last week I got it all cleaned up, lubricated, the tires pumped up, and I worked on setting the derailleur.
On Monday I rode it to work and I must be honest, it’s a pretty darn good bike!
Okay, so it doesn’t ride as nice as the 29″ wheels on the mountain bike, and the small wheels make steering a bit twitchy, but other than that…
White Pumpkin has 8 gears with a 315% overall ratio- so its like having a whole mountain bike gear series. Andthe bike has full suspension.
AND the whole thing can be folded up to look like this:
An added bonus is that I get some interesting looks while riding it– mostly from the hardcore bikers. Some even ask me what it is.
Conversation starters are a good thing, no?
So, maybe karma was trying to teach me a lesson with this whole stolen bike thing– trying to get me back on the downsizing track.
Or the DownTUBE track.
