Sunday was my holiday band concert. And my golly- that went really well too!!
The band concert was a lot of familiar christmasy/holiday-y music. Some secular. All fun. The only song I’d technically played before was Sleigh Ride, which really is my favorite holiday song. All the rest were arrangements of hymns, mashups of holiday classic, reimagining in minor keys, etc.
And honestly, it was the most fun I’ve had playing in band in awhile. I was prepared and I just relaxed and had fun with it all. My fingers did what they were supposed to without too much thought and I just… played.
It was lovely.
And the best part? The band sounded GOOD! Like really good. Our last concert I thought was iffy. Crappy orchestrations and lack of preparation left us sounding meh. This concert was on Fire. Tight.
Which just makes me very thing that much more fun.
So- a great weekend if concerts is in the books. And now for some well deserved rest.
