Groundhog. Marmot. Land Beaver. Whatever. I prefer “Whistle Pig”. It has a quaint, colloquial ring to it and it’s descriptive of the sound they make when alarmed. plus it was the name of a ski run out in Colorado that I quite fancied.
Anyway- I doubt the movie would have done half as well had it been called “Whistle Pig Day”. Although Andie MacDowell is a bit of a pig….
Now I did see a porn by that title once. 😈
I do like the movie (Groundhog Day)- and I may watch it tonight, just because. I am a sucker for “transformational” storylines. Any move where the character grows and becomes a fundamentally better person, I like. I think it’s because I strive for the same thing in my life. Continually trying to learn more and better myself. The only thing missing from my journey is a love interest that suddenly sees the “real me” and we fall madly for each other. Ah Hollywood, you’ve ruined me.
But I still keep hoping. It’s the “hopeful romantic” in me. (Like Kathleen Turner in Romancing the Stone— another transformational movie favorite).
