Winter Doldrums

I like the word “doldrums”. It accurately sums up how I feel now that we’ve started 2021. I feel like I’ll be stuck in the same hermit pattern I’ve been in until mid-April or so. Fun.

Did you know “doldrums” is actually a nautical term? It’s the name for the area near the equator between the trade winds, where ships can become becalmed for long periods of time.

But it’s a good word. It sort of sounds and feels like what it means. but for me it also evokes that drowsy boredom that comes with being stuck somewhere waiting for a change.

I certainly hope change is coming. Vaccines. A new administration. Pain reduction for mom. Better weather.

Here’s hoping for movement.

Well in just 13 days things change. And yeah we’ve got the rest of Winter to get through but a winter where the temps rarely go below freezing and no appreciable snow falls I like it. Lots of rain though.
