Yes, I was one of those people this week. I bucked the directives and pleas and traveled for thanksgiving. I am at my mom’s place and we had a small thanksgiving with just the two of us.
Yes, I know there is some risk involved— not for her than me, as I’m the one still working. But I’ve been extra diligent this past week plus, and we decided to risk it. Mainly I wanted to come down because I’m all my mom really has.
And I needed to check in on her as it has been about 6 weeks since my last visit.
I did all the cooking and we had a darn good meal (if I do say so myself). The menu consisted of: lemon-garlic pork roast, mashed sweet potatoes, a broccoli-corn casserole, a cauliflower casserole, and pumpkin chiffon pie for dessert.
We stuffed ourselves then napped in front of hallmark channel movies.
Another reason for me to come down to visit mom at thanksgiving is so that I can put up her Christmas tree and house decorations. It’s probably my least favorite chore, but she really likes Christmas. So today will be decorating.
I need lots of coffee first.
