I have a new man crush. His name is Aldo Kane and he’s ever so dreamy…
He’s an ex Royal marine who now does adventure work on National Geographic type shows. He’s a rope and abseiling expert.
I stumbled across him while flipping channels. It was Monday (absolutely nothing of worth on tv) so I was surfing. I accidentally hit the “up” button and suddenly found myself on public television. It was the show “Expedition” and he and Steve Backshall (and camera crew/team) were exploring canyons on the Arabian peninsula.
He was the “lead technical rope safety adviser” on the expedition. He set up the abseiling equipment and made sure it was safe for everyone to use. Setting pitons and checking harnesses and everything. Spending hours getting the ropes right.
And looking so fetch all the while!
During this particular episode, they did a 400m free flying apseil (rappel) off this cliff/canyon face. After the first few meters they were just suspended in the air by more than an Empire State Building. My stomach was in knots just watching it unfold.
It was double the longest abseil that Aldo had done before. It requires specially made ropes. Plus they had to abseil down with all their gear (more rope, water, purification equipment, camping gear, etc).
Oh- and did I mention they were doing this in 113° F heat??
I know I got wet just watching— You could have drown a toddler in my jock!
And to top it all off? He’s Scottish. So accent. Le sigh…..
Panties: fully disintegrated.
