Bye bye Bikes

It was just getting to be too much.

I mean, I love bikes. Especially vintage 10 speeds and single gears. I just love the look and design of them. And generally the build quality was excellent- at least in the good brands. Maybe not Huffy or Sears Free Spirit models.

But with my latest acquisitions I had five bikes. And still I only have the one ass.

At first I thought to keep them all. But hell. My condo isn’t really big enough, even if I reorganize a closet to hand bikes vertically. Or get one of those hoist systems and raise one to the ceiling. I even contemplated mounting a fancy wood bracket and having one bike continually displayed as art.

But no solution really seemed to work, save one. Selling a couple.

I honestly never rode the Motobecane. It was just pretty and in good shape. Albeit heavy as sin. And the Holdsworth? Cool and unique— just not as comfortable for me to ride as other bikes.

So on Saturday I created craigslist ads for both. By Saturday evening, both bikes were gone.

I’ll miss them. But I really needed to clear up the way as I still want to build my own single gear bike from a vintage frame.

So now I just need someone to sell me a Cinelli frameset….

w Covid – it is almost impossible to buy bikes, canoes, kayaks, etc. You could have named your price and they’d have sold easily.
