I visited mom last weekend. She’s doing… ok, but not great. Her hip is bothering her and getting around is a slow process. I was mostly down to undecorate her house from Christmas and to do some odds and ends for her. And also to do a wellness check.
Because she had a fall.
Which she didn’t tell me about.
She was heading to bridge club, slipped and fell in the garage and didn’t have her life alert necklace on. So she had to pull herself to her car and press her car horn until a neighbor came to help.
Scary.
The good news is thAt she didn’t fall because her legs gave out or she got dizzy or something. She had some garbage she had just tossed on the garage floor, it was covered by dry leaves and she slipped on the plastic bag
I have since cleaned the garage for her.
I will also be getting her a home health aid who stops in a couple times a week. Just to check on her and seeing if she needs help with anything.
I didn’t see any serious degradation in her condition, and the modifications I made to her seat heights has helped her out. But I’m worried that it will be sooner rather than later that we look for assisted living scenarios.
And her money situation isn’t great so that will be stressful. So we’ll put that off as long as possible.
As we all get older … we need to prepare … I am reminded of this from your post… I like your blog….Thanks for posting.
