So that was a thing.
After the shaky tech rehearsal and a “meh” dress rehearsal, I did not have high hopes for this concert. I think part of that stemmed from the music being geared toward other people’s truths rather than my own, so emotional connection was difficult to achieve. And I just didn’t thing we were ready.
Well, I am very glad to have been proven wrong.
The concerts came off EXTREMELY well, and the audiences loved them!
Both concerts were basically sold out, and the audience reaction to the music was definitely unexpected. Including standing “O’s” each night after our centerpiece Seven Last Words of the Unarmed.
That piece went extraordinarily well both nights.
I heard so much positive audience feedback. Things like “that’s the best I’ve heard the chorus” “the blend was fantastic” “diction was flawless” “the program was seamless” and “this concert touched me more emotionally than any concert in a long time”.
So all in all it was very rewarding experience and I’m very happy the concerts came together and gave the audience a good experience.
