As the holiday season approacheth, noweth be the time for holiday concerts.
And the crazinesseth they bring.
Yesterday marked the start of concert week. We had a performance in Rochester– sort of a “preview” concert. It’s a chance to shake some things out and get a performance under our belts.
Maaaaybe 1/2 the chorus was in attendance? It went decently and I have my shit together.
The bad part is that it’s in Rochester which is like 1.5hrs away. So there’s driving. And rehearsal. And performance. And driving home. It’s kind of exhausting and a whole Sunday is gone.
And now this week is tech rehearsal 6-10 on Tuesday. Dress rehearsal 6-10 on Thursday. Then concerts Friday-Sunday. (I have to be there at 6 for both rehearsals due to chamber Singers and then learning a percussion part on Betelehemu (Nigerian Christmas song).
And I’m working all week.
And the weather is turning to shit here.
So I’m already Mr Crankypants. Obviously.
The enjoyment of performing the music will likely make up for the hassles of rehearsal, driving, etc.
