Well, she’s home.
She had her right hip replaced on Monday. There were slight complications– instead of the spinal/epidural anesthesia, they had to go with general. (Some issue not getting the spinal in the right area). And mom evidently had some trouble coming out of that anesthesia.
She ended up spending an extra night in the hospital, which ended up being a good thing. She came around much better and is now doing fairly well. She’s moving decently and is getting herself up and down and to the bathroom.
Although she’s still in a lot of pain and she can’t seem to get comfortable. She keeps telling me that this time is worse than the knee replacement from October.
Originally I was planning to leave this evening (as hips were touted to go much smoother than knees) but I’m just not comfortable with her level of progress. So I’m staying until sometime this weekend.
Then I leave her in the hands of her in-home therapy folks, and her friends and neighbors.
I hate that my parents are falling apart.
