Like many of you, I am so over this election. Personally, I’ve been done since the primaries. Once the candidates were determined, nothing more of benefit was said or done by either side. By ANY side really.
So I’ve tuned out as best I could.
Granted you can’t fully escape it– it’s on every news channel. It’s in every social media news feed. It’s part of every late night host routine. It’s. Just. Everywhere.
Foe several months now, I’ve deliberately shunned all visual news media. I don’t watch ANY of it. If I want news, I’ll read a story reported by the NY Times or Washington Post. Or maybe the BBC.
And I rapidly scroll past any clickbait on my Facebook and twitter feeds. If I see something with a particularly egregious headline, I may go ahead and post something snarky and inflammatory (it’s my secret joy).
I didn’t watch the debates. I have avoided local channels so I don’t have to watch the despicable campaign ads. I don’t look at the local paper.
And I voted weeks ago thanks to the new early voting laws in Minnesota.
While I know that it’s a bit Pollyanna to think that the election will actually be over tomorrow, hope does spring eternal. I just really hope there isn’t any hacking or poll attacks or anything terrible tomorrow.
And god willing, we won’t have Trump as president.
Now for something a bit lighter– here’s my ass in my work khakis. They’re a little… snug.
