Holdsworth

On Sunday I decided to take my new vintage baby on a bit of a ride. Originally I was planning to just do my normal circuit of the lakes, but the ride was going so well I just kept going….

The red line shows basically where I rode:

The green lines are bike trails or streets with bike lanes. Just assume I ride the green trail next to my red line. (And yes, I did some lake loops).

It was a good ride!  And I got to introduce Holdsworth to Minnehaha Falls.  We took selfies:

After riding this bike, I can say witty absolute certainty that I’ve never owned (or ridden) a good road bike. For being built in 1984, this bike is good.
Very smooth. Very quiet. Easy to maintain speed pedaling or coasting. It’s balanced. Responsive. Handling is quick verging on twitchy.

As I was riding I kept thinking, “Nope, I’m really not tired yet. Let’s keep going!”

Now the bike isn’t without flaws or issues, but some of that is to be expected with the age. All in all though, what a nice ride!

What are some of the flaws that come with age?
Sadly, my bike went missing last week, so I now own a new 1980s bike too. But I am going to deface it by converting the drop-down handlebars to straight ones. (You can’t go wrong with straights.)
