My new art– it came!
So yeah– about my little art buying “problem”? Well, I couldn’t pass up the deal and ended up making the purchase on Easter Sunday. And it has already arrived on my doorstep.
So, this is the piece– it’s called Muse:
It’s a pastel work (painting?) done by artist Michael Breyette. A link to his art can be found here.
He does a lot of male nudes and works with homoerotic content. I prefer the more subtle longing that he portrays in some of his pieces. And I really liked Muse.
Coveted it, even.
This particular piece spoke to me. I like the art student gazing longingly at his besuited handsome muse. I like the positioning with the nude male painting in the background. I like the gallery art details. I like the muted lighting.
I like it all, really. So much so that I started obsessing about it.
I’m really not sure how I stumbled upon his art– some Google search result or Facebook link. Or possibly something from a p-town bear weekend something or other. Anyway, I saw, I liked, I followed ( on FB).
I’ve been fascinated by his work ever since– and no, not just because of the nudity. I think he’s quite talented at capturing the male form, but also expressions. And the remarkable thing is: he’s self taught.
I am fascinated by the process of all art, and the skills involved in producing the end piece. In this case how he develops the picture, blends the pastels, and layers the work.
Here are some in process shots:
And now it’s mine. ALL MINE!!! BWAH-HAHAHAHAHA!
When I get it framed and hung, I’ll repost pictures. I’m thinking a nice, gold gallery type frame. Right now it’s still in its protective wrapping and I’m almost too afraid to open it!
