Such a Hoar!

Christmas morning dawned grey and foggy in central Iowa. And it was about 29° and calm.  Which created a perfect environment for hoar frost. (Or possibly rime– I’m not sure).

Anyway, I’d never seen it so spiky and thick!  Here are a few captured pictures (using iPhone 6+):

Kinda cool, huh?  All these were taken at my mom’s house. It was like an extra Christmas prezzie.

I’ve never seen or heard of hoar frost, maybe because environmental conditions here are such that it doesn’t occur. Pretty cool though!

Like Mark, I have never seen it, either. Very cool pics!
