I’m not asking much. Just a token, really, a trifle—you’ll never even miss it….

What I want from you is…

Yes, just in time for the Big Gay Sing (aka the Pride Concert for TCGMC) my voice appears to have been stolen. It started with me feeling “off” this past weekend.

Then Monday the coughing started.

And Tuesday with the early flight to Chicago, shouting over equipment and talking to an auditor for 8 hours, my voice started to go.

By Wednesday I sounded like Barry White with a chest cold.

Tonight is dress rehearsal for the concert and I’m desperately trying to keep talking to a minimum today. I also have tea for this afternoon. And lots of water.

I’m hoping to resurrect my voice by Friday’s concert. Although at the rate this is going, I may need the help of a plucky seagull and a Saint Bernard…..

i get the Barry White reference. I’m lost on the others.

  2. Girl Tuesday says:

loads of hot tea with honey, and maybe a tiny drop of something naughty…….

ginger root tea – grind up the ginger and boil for about 10 minutes, add honey to sweeten – is a lifesaver. The Ginger is anti-inflammatory and can help you get your voice back. Also, humming over a basin of steaming water with a towel over your head can help, too. My mom and dad are both voice teachers and have professional students all over the world – these are the things I use when my voice is going. Sorry I’m a day late – maybe it can help next time?

I thought I was the only one that gets a chest cold in the summer. It sucks big time. Every time I get hot the coughing is worse and I CANNOT lay down. Have to sleep in a chair. I wouldn’t ever recommend anything because nothing I have tried seems to help.
