The Gay Groom.

What trip to Toronto would be complete without meeting a random fellow blogger/twitterer? And so today, after my skull-crushingly boring conference meetings, I walked up to the gay Village and met Jeffrey.

Jeffrey Luscombe. From the gay groom fame.

Oh. And also maybe from the novelShirts and Skins”.

Yeah. Him.

Somehow I talked him into meeting me for coffee in the Village (NOT tim hortons!) where we had good coffee. And we had a great time chatting about his first novel (which I read as soon as it came out) and also about the new one he’s working on (although he wouldn’t give me details damnit) and Rob Ford and Tumblr and Brazilian Lepers, and all sorts of things!

He also gave me the lay of the land and helped me choose a restaurant for this evening– where I’m currently sitting and blogging after the best eggplant Parmesan I’ve ever had.

And that was just the appetizer!

So, my Toronto trip had definitely taken a turn for the better. Meeting Jeffrey was awesome, and it was so nice that he actually took time out of writing to fake being nice to me!!

And “Shirts and Skins” is really good (and I’m not just saying that because I’m gonna send him a link to this post either!). It’s an actual novel that has a gay main character (and not a ‘gay novel’). If you haven’t bought his book yet, do.

Especially the electronic version, cuz he gets more per book for those.

And now to see about this Black Eagle bar across the street…..

I had a great time meeting you too! Glad you are having a good time (save the conference which really sounds like a drag). Looking forward to hearing about your trip to the Black Eagle. Back in the day they had a bathtub on the top floor. I’ll tell you why someday 😉
