This past weekend I gave myself a haircut. And a beard cut. And I’m sort of chuffed by the results.
Yes, I know I’ve been cutting my hair for over 10 years, and generally I get decent results. I mean, my hair is perfectly straight, so it isn’t hard to do. But sometimes certain cuts are better than others.
What prompted me was this guy at the gym. First of all, he was ridiculously hot. But secondly, his hair and beard were perfect. And I mean PERFECT.
Short on the back and sides, but the top artfully waved over just so. It was the perfect version of the cut that is so popular right now. I very nearly asked him where he had it done, but he looked like the kind if guy who might punch me if I asked that.
So instead I thought , “I’m gonna try to make MY hair do that!”
It came out close. I lack the artisanal skill set to get the volume yet have the hair lay properly. But is is close.
But I will say that I must have done something right with it because straight guys at work noticed my hair, and five (FIVE!) different gay guys commented about how much they liked my haircut. And one was an ex hair stylist!!
Perhaps trimming the beard a bit shorter also helped the illusion too. Regardless, I’m sort of enjoying my new ‘do. And also enjoying all the different Aveda product I get to use in it!

It’s a great look for you! Did you do this before your great weekend? I’ve been really enjoying the new look of the longer beards and short hair that many model are wearing but I think that is definitely an under 35 look.
