The gloriously fun thing about tattoos is, they tend to polarize the general populace. They always seems to illicit one of two reactions: either “I’m hip, daddy-o” or “Cut yer hair, ya hippie!” Personally? I like tattoos. I like men with tattoos. It makes me curious about them– it also makes me want to lick them all over.
And you know what they say: dress for what you want to attract.
I already have two, which I gather from some of the comments is positively icky. So what’s one more, right? Plus three is a better number from a design standpoint.
So, I’m narrowing my choice to the Arabic zoomorphic calligraphy. Mainly because I find Arabic to be a beautiful written language, and turning the language to art is very clever in my book. Here are some of the finalist designs:
This is very similar to the tiger from yesterday’s post. But different text. It may possibly be a bismillah.
Next is the one from yesterday, it sort of copies the above design, but is different.. And explained with a translation:
I think the poetic sentiment is as beautiful as the image.
Number 3 is a slightly different variant, but from ancient Persian text stuff:
I like the proud, head and tail up pose.
And finally (so far):
I wish this one were facing the other way. I could invert it, but that would probably fuck up the text.
I’m pretty sold on the idea that it’s going to point down my forearm, and be contained completely on the inside of my arm. No wrapping around my whole forearm. I want it to mimic how miss phoebe lays in the crook of my arm. It will probably start just below elbow crease and end a few inches below my wrist.
At least this is what I’m thinking for now.
Next step is to find the artist. Kyle can help me there.
