Yes, I was officially offered a spot in the Twin Cities GMC last night. And I accepted.
So now I’m, like, officially GAY gay.
The audition itself went decently, and I was my typical charming, albeit goofy, self. But I wasn’t happy with how I sang.
The audition timing couldn’t have been worse. After three very long days of chaperoning our auditor at work and yelling systems explanations over loud equipment, my voice was in rough shape. I still sound like a white Barry White.
After half a pack of cigs.
Anyway, add to that the nerves of auditioning AND singing a song I’ve never sung with piano accompaniment before……
It could have gone better. My voice wasn’t reacting right, so I tensed up, forgot to breathe properly, didn’t sing through my mask, etc. Needless to say– it was not my best offering.
But I still managed to show a decent range and the ability to hear and sing intervals, etc.
And I did get in. So, there is that. Now I just have to show them they chose wisely.
P.P.S. My audition song was “Stars” from Les Miserables.
