Promos

I got promoted at work. So, um… yeah. Merry, um.. Christmas? I guess?

I’m now going to be a manager. Again. Which means I’ll have people reporting to me. Again. Which is not my favorite thing. I do just fine managing my own affairs, but when I have to manage others… Sigh. It can make me a bit chippy.

But all the people have been here quite some time and are good in their jobs, so that’s a plus. And the manager title will look good on a résumé, just in case. And I do get a raise, so that’s nice.

The real downside was that the people I will now be managing were my coworkers and peers. So that whole interpersonal dynamic will need to shift.

Which will effectively isolate me even more at work.

But hey. It’s still a promotion, right?

I take to management like a duck to water myself. What I found out over a decade ago is that I am a team builder. Which is very interesting.

  2. hmmmmm, could be interesting times ahead…

The pay will be nice, but you can no longer flirt with the hot menz or unzip their britches with your eyes.

Congrats on the promotion! Maybe now you can afford to get some furnishings for your condo, it’s really spartan. LOL

Congratulations. Being part of management can be a lot of fun (I know just how that sounds) if you have a team that works well together and likes you. The part I dislike the most is when you have to deal with disciplinary issues or lay people off. Ugh… but that’s why they pay you more.

Hope it goes well for you. I did a shift to management a few years back. It was not for me. I demoted myself.

  8. Congratulations. I think. I’ve never enjoyed being “management”, and it’s not something I’d wish on anyone. 😉
