I do like to keep my place fairly organized. It’s that darn OCD rearing it’s ugly head.
I mean, it hasn’t gotten to the point where my cupboards and pantry have items lined up by height and all food products stored alphabetically, but it could be heading in that direction.
Because I live in a condo that has decent (yet somewhat challengingly shaped) storage spaces, I really want to improve the organization of the closets in order to maximize the usable space. Right now, there is a lot of wasted vertical space.
Plus all the shelves in all my closet spaces are those cheap, white wire racks.
First on my list is the bedroom walk-in closet. While it isn’t a disaster, it is a bit more disheveled than I would like. Plus I need more shelving solutions to store all my man-bags and shoes.
I measured that bad boy and have been mapping out potential configurations. I’ve also looked at closet organizer kits from Home Depot, the Container Store, IKEA, etc. and nothing is fitting the bill.
While I don’t want to spend a fortune on a custom closet, I also don’t want it to be flimsy particle board either. But there doesn’t seem to be any midrange solutions. Besides, to configure the closet will require a certain amount of “cutting to fit”.
My favorite thing.
So- this weekend was a bit frustrating for me, trying to plot out solutions and price options, and getting dimensions online, and trying to find if items were in stock or special order…. Arrrrrrggghh!
But then ….
*cue angels singing*
I ran into Todd. Aka “Hot Toddy”. My ridiculously handsome parking space neighbor who lives in an identical unit to mine (only downstairs). We were both at Room & Board outlet in Sunday looking for bargains.
So I stopped and
flirted chatted with him a bit. We caught up a bit; he’s been out of town on a long term project, renting his space on Air B&B, yadda yadda yadda. Then out of the blue he says:
HT: So, you’re in my stack, right?
CB: Yeah, I’m directly above you.
HT: Cool, because I have this closet organizer that I’m looking to get rid of and…
HT: I have this closet organizer…
CB: Bedroom closet?!??
HT: Yeah, for the walk-in bedroom closet. It was all custom made to fit the space, but since I’m really not living there much anymore, I thought I might see if anyone in our stack could use it.
CB: Dude. This is fate. I’ve been researching and trying to come up with an organizational solution for my closet, and you have something for the exact same closet!
HT: And it’s pretty nice. About 7 1/2 feet tall. Really sturdy. Shelf units with drawers, double hanging bars, shoe racks. I can send you pictures if you want, or you can come down and see it sometime.
CB: Well, I call first dibs! And I am very serious about entertaining this!
We did not talk about price on Sunday; I figured I’d wait to see pics to see if it’s something I like and think will work. But heck, how could it NOT be? Todd is one hellastylish homo. I’m sure it’s a good closet system.
I just hope he offers a fellow homo a deal. Because at this point, price will be the only stumbling block.
