Another drum corps weekend in the books– and another weekend spent being wet and cold.
Yeah– it rained on us. Again.
Friday was our first parade if the season. It rained. But the rain stopped in time for us to still march in wet uniforms, so there’s that.
Then this weekend was another full camp weekend. We learned the last bit of our show and now have the full drill under our feet.
Naturally it rained on us on Saturday. Then it got cold. And Sunday was mostly chilly– but at least it ended up close to 70 by the end.
And we completed our first full performance of the whole show by the end of the day. Nobody died and it went relatively decently all things considered.
I feel better about things. We got a couple new people, so we have fewer holes. We have a whole show. The horn line is finally playing better as an ensemble.
And now we start to mold and tweak the show by adding visual interest, body movements, dynamic shaping, etc. All the layers that really make the show a performance.
Things are beginning to look up.
