We had our first outdoor “band camp” of the season on Sunday. It went very well and we are now marching and playing the first minute of our show.
The first minute has 18 charts/sets, which basically means we hit a new set every 3.3 seconds of music or so.
Since we are marching at 180 bpm, it’s more like every 8 counts of music, give or take.
Our “Intro” features jazz running again (a Minnesota Brass staple) as well as a semi-running and playing company front.
I am sore today.
At least the weather cooperated. It was in the upper 70’s and mostly sunny. A bit windy, but overall a perfect day for drum corps.
We have rehearsal Wednesday, where we’ll get into the swing of our outdoor practice mode, then full weekend camp next Weekend.
Unfortunately, we just had our Spring this past weekend, and we go back into Winter later this week:
Do you know mow much it sucks to march and play in rainy 40 degree weather?
