This is pretty much the face I’ve been making since last night. When I bought this:
The MINI Countryman.
I’m totally going through the whole buyer’s remorse thing. Why did I get this? I didn’t need it! My Subaru worked perfectly fine! WHAT was I THINKING?!?
But it’s done. And it’s mine (in 5 years).
I’m still trying to wrap my head around it all. A new car. *sigh*
I will say this though… I love the thing.
I love the way it drives, the solid “whump” of the doors when they close, the 6-speed transition, the All Wheel drive, the cradling of the bucket seats, how it looks like an angry, anthropomorphic beast of sorts, the “sport” feature which stiffens up the suspension and gooses the throttle response.
And the features. My Buddha, the FEATURES!
Bluetooth, hands free connectivity with my iPhone– The car already has my contact list uploaded. The iPod and USB music integration. The multi-color LED internal lighting. The Harmon Kardon stereo. The dual-pane sunroof. Heated seats! Auto-folding mirrors! Rain sensing wipers!
The list goes on.
Oh, and I know this is such a minor thing to geek out about, but it has push button start.
Squeeeeeeeee!
I’ve always wanted a car with a push button ignition. It just feels so… high-falutin’.
And as shallow as this sounds, the Countryman “fits” in my parking garage better. What with my neighbors driving BMWs, Audis, Land Rovers, Infinitis, Lexi, etc.
Lastly, it’s sort of poetic how my first MINI was black with a white top, white wheels, white mirror covers, and white racing stripes– basically the negative of this one.
Now, he needs a name. Suggestions?

Very butch. This is somewhat of an obscure reference. “Angry, anthropomorphic beast” make me think of a Minotaur. Google Asterion.

Damn. You’ve had this almost a month. Time to make that first payment–that always sucks. I love the Minis and the BMW dealership on my way to work has the new Pakman? Paceman? up on a pedestal. It’s difficult to keep my eye on the freeway when I pass. I got in a convertible Mini at the auto show but I was wondering about headroom? Do you sit tall in the saddle or are all three of your legs rather long instead? At any rate, I love the car. Good for you–enjoy!
