What has two thumbs and woke up to faded-in morning radio?
*This* guy.
As promised, Amazon had my clock radio waiting at my door when I got home yesterday.
15 minutes later I had read the manual, set the time, station presets, and my morning alarm.
This morning it worked like a charm.
So far I will say I am pleased with the purchase. The sound is really quite good– less muddy than the Bose. Very crisp. And rather large for the small box.
Furthermore, the build is very solid. Nothing feels cheap or plasticky.
And the alarm setting? While not intuitive or two button simple, it isn’t crazy hard. I think the people on Amazon who were so negative about the alarm feature are probably the same folks who spend 5 minutes at an ATM trying to figure out how to make a deposit.
The only slight negative I can see so far is that the display is rather bright. You can dim it (there are 3 levels and also a no backlight option) but even on the dimmest setting it’s still fairly “night light-esque”.
It didn’t keep me up, but a darker setting would be nice.
Lets hope this baby continues to work well and lasts me another 15 years.
Nice that you’re enjoying the new clock radio. One thing though, the Bose was a stereo unit, this looks to be mono unit. Is there a port to add a speaker?
you have to set the time yourself?? what a rip-off!
Yes– but I had to do that on a 400 Bose too. And on a 20 dollar Sony
my $11 Sony sets the time automatically and changes to Daylight Savings Time on it’s own. I win!
But do you get ready in the morning listening to your 11 dollar Sorny wheeze and buzz?
I’m sure it has *awesome* sound. And tells you what the station is playing, etc.
Yeah – it wouldn’t be a stretch to add WiFi to these clock radios and have them sync via NTP.
Sangean makes other models that get their time from the Atomic Clock. And this one “is” capable of setting its own time, if the RMS signal in the area carries the time stuff.
But since I always have my bedroom clock set 7 minutes fast, auto setting wouldn’t help me any.
