I tend to function best when my life has a schedule.
Not “overscheduled” mind you… then I get a bit chippy. I do need a certain amount of downtime to recharge. But I need, no crave, having a schedule in place so that I keep my mind focused and occupied. When I have too much free time, I get to feeling a bit adrift.
Like this holiday.
I had that nice, yet not very scheduled trip to Palm Springs at the very beginning of December. Then there were the holidays and extra vacation days to burn. So I was off the Monday and Friday in the week before Christmas, then again on Wednesday the 26th. And today I am off, as well as tomorrow.
Now this is all very nice, but has left me a bit antsy. I’ve been to the gym five days in a row (today will be the 6th). And while this is good to get in shape and to burn some of the holiday excess, it’s also just about not going stir-crazy. I’ll also be cleaning my floors today and cutting my hair, practicing my baritone, doing laundry, reading, blogging, and who knows what else.
Nothing good, I’m sure.
I’ve already made my New Year’s Resolution list, and it’s hanging on my fridge. I make one every year. Perhaps tomorrow I’ll blog about what some of my goals in 2013 are.
I do have a New Years party to attend this evening, which could either be fun or a major bust. I have this terrible sinking feeling about it (there will be some children present), but the good news is that it starts early. So I can always bail and be home before the drunk drivers if necessary.
So, that being said, I hope you all are enjoying your time off. Thanks for reading the blog and I wish you all the best in 2013.
P.S. I better make these last few vacation days count, because I have no holidays or days off work until Memorial Day. *wah waaaaaah*
