This past Friday and Saturday was a critical drum corps weekend for us, as it was our last opportunity to put up good scores prior to the championships.
And your performance order for Prelims is determined by your highest score at the end of the season.
Unfortunately I don’t think we scored “enough”.
Our last/best score is a 91.45. Our nemesis the Bucs scored a 92-something on Saturday. So we are at best going on in 2nd.
The big worry now are the corps behind us. They all have shows next weekend, which present them an excellent opportunity to jump ahead of us in score.
And the further our performance order drops at Prelims, the lower our chances for winning. To really have ANY chance we can’t drop lower than 3rd. 2nd is rough enough.
So I’m worried. And a bit pissed.
Okay, so we didn’t have a terrific show on Friday night. But we had a really good one on Saturday, and I’m not sure we got credit for it from the judges.
And truthfully we may have overreached a bit this year, what with all of our drill rewrites and changes. It has made it very difficult to get the show clean.
Too many individual mental errors and fuck-ups.
So now we wait.
But the good news is that we still have time. We have Wednesday rehearsal this week and one last camp this weekend where we will clean like fiends.
And then it’s on like Donkey Kong, bitchiz!
