Technically we came in second, but that just means first loser.
Minnesota Brass at retreat. The work I did with the group paid off so we didn’t look quite so janky.
Actually, our placement was not unforeseen and to be honest, rather expected. It was our first time being seen by the east coast judging establishment and we were on our rivals home turf.
So second was about the best we could hope for. Personally I was ready to call the corps to attention at the third place score.
I was a bit disappointed by the point spread (2.7) and by how one particular judge “East Germaned” our score in visual stuff.
Other than that…
It was overall a really good and successful trip. Nobody vomited on the buses, nobody got lost in New York, we delivered a good show, and everyone survived the 50+ hours on a bus without kicking anyone’s taco.
Plus, I didn’t get the severe cankles this year!
And we all got some free hours in NYC– where I rejuvenated by visiting the MoMA, Rockefeller Plaza, and Bryant Park.
I’ll post pics of that adventure tomorrow.
