Violation.

My bike was stolen yesterday.

Yes, my brand new blue aluminum beauty was brazenly taken from right out in front of my company’s shipping office between the hours of 4 and 5 pm.

My first new bike in 22 years, and I got to ride it for all of a month before it was taken away.

Before you ask, yes it was chained up. Through both wheels and the frame to a post.

It was also chained up 3 feet from a very busy door where people and trucks and deliveries come and go all day.

It was also right next to 3 Harley’s.

The whole thing is just rather depressing and I feel violated. Just like when my apartment storage locker was broken into and I lost a trombone and some electronic equipment.

What galls me most is the fact that it was snatched in broad daylight from what I felt was a fairly secure location.

We aren’t on that busy of a street, but we constantly have semis and delivery trucks and people coming and going. And it was a nice day so there were tons of joggers and bikers and walkers.

(We’re very close to the river and also the University).

And my bike was locked in full view of our main office across the street. Where we have security cameras.

Our IT department is working on pulling the camera records to see if anything was captured that could be useful to the police.

I hope we get good video of it– I want those sorry ass motherfuckers to pay.

The thing is, this had to have been planned and pulled off by some ballsy bitches. They had to have cased my bike and our facility, had a large set of bolt cutters, and possibly a getaway vehicle.

I know it probably takes 20 seconds to steal a bike, but still. Broad daylight at a fairly busy time of day, with bolt cutters?

Fuck you in the ass, mouth and cunt.

I filed an online theft report with the police last night (the Internet makes it so easy!). Thankfully the receipt for my bike was still jammed under my car seat, so I had the model and serial number info.

Derrick was a very helpful resource, as he bikes everywhere and his bike has been stolen three times. And recovered all three times.

Now I wait, but I’m not overly hopeful.

Needless to say it was a long walk home yesterday.
