Pride (in the name of…)

Well, it was Pride weekend here in good ol’ Minneapolis, this past weekend. And what activities did I do, to celebrate??

No parade, no barbecues, no bar visits, no hanging with gay friends, no random sex. Nada.

Because I had drum corps camp all weekend. (And contrary to popular belief and my hopes, drum corps is really a straight activity).

Oh, I suppose I could have made a big effort and tried to get out at least one evening, but honestly I was too goddamn tired!

Marching for 10 solid hours on Saturday absolutely beat out any Pride feelings I may have had. All I had the energy to do was to go home and cry in my shower like Elizabeth Shue in Leaving Las Vegas.

Sunday was pretty much the same story.

I was so far removed from anything and everything gay this weekend that I barely heard that gay marriage passed in NY.

Yippie skippy. Now all those manhattan fags can plan *fabulous* weddings, dpend a ton of money, then be miserable and get divorced (and spend a ton of money).

Just like straight folks.

So, that was pretty much the extent of my Pride this weekend. What about you?

I wholeheartedly agree that Drum Corps is a straight activity. The gayest thing about my drum corps is the feathers we wear in our hats.

The gayest pride related thing we did this weekend was Brunch with some gays and gay friendly’s. Instead the bulk of our weekend was spent with the Greyhounds.

  2. Pff. I don’t even get Pride for another month.

You are right, CB, drum corps is predominately straight….except when it’s gay as a window. 🙂
Marriage equality gave NYC Pride an extra jolt this year. The wigs were a little higher…good feelings this year.

but you were the driving inspiration behind my musical selections this month! i was visualizing you all “single-lady-ing” it up, with your gay in high gear, prancing with your elbows up high…

    what a let down.
