A timely Crate & Barrel catalog and a fortuitous trip to the C&B store netted me my shelving solution:

The shelves are a slate grey wash and were exactly the right width (with 1/2 inch to spare) to flank my entertainment console.

Here’s how they look in the context with the room:

I like them! I think they personalize the space by having more of my “stuff” around. And they really weren’t that expensive.

Oh, and the best part? I was able to unpack two more moving boxes. Leaving me with just one box if miscellaneous crap left.

Beautiful room…. I love the picture of the beefy guy the best!

  2. It’s probably the “why didn’t I just throw this stuff away” box. There’s always one of those.

  3. Sean says:

It’ll be good to have that stuff safely on shelves and out of the way for when I visit *wink*

  4. Jim says:

    They look great!

  5. Scott says:

Is it an optical illusion, or are the shelves on the right from Pisa?

    • cb says:

The shelves are from Crate and Barrel… the floor is evidently from Pisa. Damn old factory buildings! Yeah, I had to shim the shelf unit on the right.

  6. Kris says:

    Nice living room, I diggg

  7. Rob in Australia says:

Great room. Just wondering… what are those pipes running through the middle of the room? We dont have those in Australia….

    • cb says:

My condo is actually in an old factory building, and the pipes are water lines and part of the fire supression system. You should see the big, steel air ducts that also run through the space.

  8. Vern says:

I like the shelves, but I’d like to see a couple of plants worked into the mix to liven things up a little. Maybe on the left, third shelf down and perhaps a small succulent on the right next to Buddha. And cord management.

    • cb says:

Cord management is coming. Baby steps, Vern!

And I was thinking of perhaps an Ivy on one of the shelves.

  9. fd39 says:

always good to have a half inch or two to spare…

  10. Rick/CJ says:

I like it. It’s all so butch, okay masculine in appearance. I love the self portrait over the telly. I like the color of your sofa as well. Looking good just like you CB.
