Kyle and I hung out on Saturday and found some cool 50’s – 70’s antique stores. One of them was, to use the vernacular, Da Bomb. Seriously, the place rocked and rocked HARD! I found a new lamp there which I totally fell in love with. Here’s a picture of my 4-balled chrome and black shade beauty.
The VERY best part of this purchase is the fact that the Star Tribune is doing a story on these retro shops (presumably for their Style section) and the photographers expressly took pictures of THIS lamp to put in the article! My lamp is gonna be famous– and in MY place.
Suck. It. Bitches.
There was also another place (more kitchy) that had THIS in the window. This will NOT be in my place (but would look SO good in Kyle’s):
After shopping, we went to The Science Museum in St. Paul for an OmniMax presentation about ‘Greece’. It was cool, and that damned curved screen made you feel like you were IN the damn movie! After Kyle and I took pics from around the world. Here’s Kyle in Italy (I think its a good pic of him, albeit a bit dark):
Next we went to the famous “Mickey’s Diner”– which is an institution in the twin cities. Here is a pic of the lights outside:
And here is a pic of a couple of the patrons of Mickey’s:
umm. please people, look in the background – it’s ALL ABOUT THE BACKGROUND. woof.
and, umm… i want photographer’s credit for that last one damnit.
oh, and to cb expressly: sorry i was a bitch
really. sorry.
Me likey your new beard action. 🙂
Fuck the boys in the background – you’re the hottie. Loving the S&P beard.
A bitchy Kyle? Hmmm…when did we start apologizing for being bitchy? It just happens.
Looks like the Twin Cities are welcoming you with open arms. I have never been there, but we may just have to take a trip – your pics are inspiring!
More pics of you and Kyle please. (Use your handy dandy new iPhone!)
Aw, thanks you guys! You noticed the beard!
Loving the lamp….very “mid-century modern meets Donna Reed”. 🙂
I remember seeing that lamp in the Sears Catalog back in the day!
Damn you! Now I’m hungry for diner food…
