November 10, 2009I want a Dell Mini netbook that’s been hackintoshed with OS X, carbine action and a compass in the stock!
And no, I won’t shoot my eye out.
If you are like I was (mere days ago) wondering what the fuck a hackintosh is, well it’s ONLY the latest craze!
I just happened to be chatting with a blogger friend who flashed his new hackintosh Dell Mini at me.
At first I was curious. Then after research… Smitten!
Ever since Apple started using Intel chips, folks (aka ‘hackers’) have been coming up with excellent ways to replace the MS crap on computers with the latest OS X software.
It’s brilliant, really. All the beauty of a Mac OS, but with none of the hardware expense.
And It’s called “hackintoshing”.
One of the most popular formats for hackintoshing now seems to be in the realm of ‘netbooks’.
Especially since apple had yet to come out with their rumored “tablet” or whatever.
As it turns out, the Dell Mini 9 netbook is perfectly suited to hackintoshing. It has tons of features and the cost is terrif!
So, online there are tons of websites with instructions and codes and such for just how to do it.
And for 300-some dollars you can have a netbook that acts like a MacBook air.
Me want! Me want NOW!!
Plus, I just love the Hackintosh logo!
I have never heard of these. I’ll have to check them out!
And here I thought I knew EVERYTHING! Apparently, and obviously, not. But I am typing this comment to you on a brand new MacBook Pro — for which I am gratefully broke.
And if you need repairs, you just throw it away!

I’ve put OS X on a few non-Apple laptops (very easy to do actually), but always seem to end up wiping it and putting Windows back on. I guess I’m not a Mac person….

I’m one of the sad fuckers living in hope for a mac netbook – it’s not going to happen is it? Looks like this could be the way to go.
