Serendipity Wednesday

I hate the DMV.  With a passion.

I guess I should say that I don’t really hate the people working there… although they pretty much suck the big one, too.  No, its the rules and regulations and bureaucracy of the whole thing.   Its insane.

Every year I invariably get into trouble with the DMV.  I let my insurance lapse.  I don’t pay my property taxes on my car (yes, in NC you not only pay taxes when you buy the vehicle, you pay taxes each year on the ‘vehicular property’ as well– in addition to registration fees every year).  I’ll forget to get it inspected for emissions.  You name it, I’ve gotten in trouble for it.

My most recent difficulties surround my insurance agent forgetting to get me signed up for autodraft on my car insurance, so that it lapsed for a month.  Uggh.  I was threatened with suspended plates for 30 days due to the infraction… but I requested a phone hearing from a judge.

Which I got.  Yesterday.

Where I work in NC, I have a 25% chance of having a cell phone signal on any given day.  Yesterday, I miraculously had a signal.  AND was again miraculously at my desk when my phone rang.

I successfully navigated the hearing and escaped with a 50$ fine.  And I get to keep my registration.  PHEW!

Now if I could only fix that car inspection late fee….
